Thatching ants. I couldn’t leave their anthills alone when I was a kid—and I got the bites to show for it. Climbing into a nest full of pinching creatures definitely has its risks.
But in the coming weeks I’ll do it again. Gladly. Thankfully. Many of you will, too—during the holidays—as you trek back to a nest you left long ago, or as you welcome your own traveling ants home.
May you land in the shelter of a warm nest this season. May the bites you receive be few, and may you bite . . . not at all. And if you find yourself on a distant trail somewhere, may you still know that you are deeply loved. And never alone.
Instead of blogging in the coming weeks, I’ll be spending those hours deep in my own nest. I’ll be back with a new post on January 4th. Would you like me to email it to you?

I would never have guessed being bitten by an ant was rewarding. I can’t say I’ve ever have had the pleasure. I love the stories of your childhood adventures and how they translate now!

Hehe. Could be that a nest’s rewards overcome a multitude of bites . . . 🤷🏻♀️

No biting here! Not any nesting either, unfortunately. Tho I did make wreathes for my mom and sisters headstones, and one for my brother, who has the nest of ants on Christmas. I know I’m not alone! I am blessed, guided and protected! Thank you for your reminders! Holiday peace be yours!
