His Forest

Western Screech Owl Kotori looks into camera from handler's glove
At the Washington State University Teaching Hospital, I ran into Rose, here handling Kotori, a Western Screech Owl at the WSU Raptor Club. Brought in as an owlet in 2014, his flight feathers twisted as he grew, so he couldn’t be released back into the wild.

I watched his head turn 270 degrees as he read the landscape. Hear that warning clack? And his hoot? The vet hospital is his only  forest.

I wonder if he remembers the other one.
